Completed in March of 2024, this recent renovation to Ponca City High School will benefit the school's ever-growing STEM programs for years to come. The STEM facility repurposed an existing addition to the high school and was formed from the bare bones of the structure. This new building will house a variety of activities such as e-sports, maker's spaces, computer labs, classrooms, collaboration zones, 3D printing and various simulation capabilities. This high-tech facility will showcase the broad range of career choices that come with STEM fields and teach students more about them in an engaging manner.
The design inspiration that drives this project is the circuit board pattern. Elements of a circuit board can be seen in places such as the Wildcat elevator shaft, the wood circuit board wall and the inset light fixtures that run throughout. The idea was to create a space with a modern feel that encapsulates various STEM related concepts. Touches of navy and red incorporate school spirit and instill Wildcat pride.
